Languages and Culture

The region is characterized by Tashelhiyt (Amazigh language) being the primary language spoken throughout the communities, along with Moroccan Arabic for broader communication. The Amazigh heritage remains strong, with Tashelhiyt preserving the cultural identity and traditional knowledge of the Imghrane tribes in the Draa Valley.

The Name “Imghrane”

In Tamazight (Amazigh language), “Imghrane” means “the elders” or “the wise ones.” This name reflects our deep respect for ancestral wisdom, tribal governance traditions, and the accumulated knowledge passed down through generations in the harsh yet beautiful Atlas Mountain environment.
